Welcome to the Home of the Truckee River Flyfishers!
We are a fly fishing club dedicated to improving and promoting the sport of fly fishing in Nevada.

Welcome to the Truckee River Flyfishers website!

We are a community of outdoor enthusiasts who love fly fishing. Our members range from beginners looking for their first fly fishing experience to veterans who have fished for decades. We invite you to join our organization for great fishing and fellowship.

Our website is designed to be a resource for club members who want to enhance their fly fishing experience through participation in various club activities. Check often for information on club meetings, socials, fish-outs, conservation projects, classes and clinics and other activities that support our mission.

We have a Calendar of Events and a Let's Go Fishing Forum for connecting with members for impromptu fishing. To join the forum, first join the club, then join the interest group and post in the forum when and where you will be fishing. Forum members will receive an email with the details.

To join, click on the Member Signup tab above and you will be guided through the registration process.  Annual membership starting in January 2025 will be $35 for an individual and $40 for a family.  Students will remain $10.  Due to increases in our liability insurance and other fixed expenses, it has been necessary to increase our dues for the first time in a very long time.  Membership in our club is open to all people interested in fly fishing and conserving our freshwater fisheries.

We are once again able to accept credit and debit cards for membership dues.  We also accept cash or checks.  If you have any problems renewing your membership, please call 775-741-8825 for assistance.

Please join today and we look forward to fly fishing with you.

Mission Statement

Truckee River Flyfishers is a
non-profit organization dedicated to improving and promoting the sport of fly fishing in Nevada; promoting and encouraging the conservation of game fish, especially wild trout, through the betterment of streams and lakes everywhere; and encouraging and assisting our youth to become fly fishers and true sportspersons.

History

Truckee River Flyfishers was founded in 1979 by Jim Jackson, original owner of the Reno Fly Shop, Dave Morrison and Terry Barron. The new fly shop became a gathering place for local fly fishermen; Jim Jackson promoted the club and it grew relatively quickly.

Their vision was to
provide an opportunity for men and women interested in fly fishing to share information with others, learn from others, experience fly fishing at various fisheries, and protect fisheries for future generations.

The club promotes the preservation and restoration of streams, rivers and lakes, particularly those within Nevada and California. We support youth programs that provide both education and enjoyment to young people interested in fishing. All club activities endeavor to promote learning the art of fly fishing and developing an appreciation for healthy fisheries.
